Description: References to the ‘Blood’ of Christ. There are 41 instances.

Scope: New Testament

[Death of Judas]
(e1) And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. Act_1_19

notes: the field of blood was called so for two reasons [see (4) Matthew 27_8]. One reason was because of it being purchased by 'the price of blood' for which Judas betrayed the Lord. A second reason for some people calling the field "the field of blood" is given here (e1) connected with the manner of death of Judas.

[Generic use of the word 'blood' to indicate human nature]
(e2) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. Hebrews 2_14

[Blood used to refer to the OT] (e3, e4, e5)
(e3) Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. Hebrews 9_18
(e4) Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Hebrews 9_20
(e5) And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9_22

[Blood of the enemies of the Lord]
(e6) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. Revelation 19_13
notes: this is the blood of the enemies of the Lord. see Isaiah 63: '2 Wherefore are thy garments red, and thy raiment as [if fresh] from a trodden winepress? 3 I am full of trodden [grape], and of the nations there is not a man with me; and I trampled them in my fury, and dashed them to pieces as earth, and brought down their blood to the earth' (LXX)
