notes: the field of blood was called so for two reasons [see (4) Matthew 27_8]. One reason was because of it being purchased by 'the price of blood' for which Judas betrayed the Lord. A second reason for some people calling the field "the field of blood" is given here (e1) connected with the manner of death of Judas.

notes: this is the blood of the enemies of the Lord. see Isaiah 63: '2 Wherefore are thy garments red, and thy raiment as [if fresh] from a trodden winepress? 3 I am full of trodden [grape], and of the nations there is not a man with me; and I trampled them in my fury, and dashed them to pieces as earth, and brought down their blood to the earth' (LXX)
